wróć...The 6th Reunion of Survivors and their Families is now behind us

From 31 May to 1 June, the 6th Reunion of Survivors and their Families took place, which is a unique event dedicated to the memory of children imprisoned in the German camp for Polish children on Przemysłowa Street in Łódź. The meeting was an important opportunity to talk to witnesses of history, to present the Museum's activities related to documenting the wartime experiences of children and to pay tribute to the victims of the camp together.
The first day of events, held at the Museum's headquarters, began with a closed meeting of Survivors with the Museum's management and staff. During the discussion, the redevelopment project for the former commandant’s building and the new concept for the permanent exhibition were presented. Participants were also able to see unique archaeological artefacts discovered during recent excavation works.
On the same day, an open meeting from the “Through Their Own Eyes” series was held for the residents of Łódź and members of the media. The guests had the opportunity to listen to moving recollections of Survivors and reflections on remembering the tragic events of the war. The meeting was moderated by Jolanta Sowińska-Gogacz.
The official ceremonies took place on 1 June in Grey Ranks Park, at the Monument to the Martyrdom of Children, commonly known as the Broken Heart Monument. The central event of the Children’s Day celebrations was the presentation of the “Heart for a Child” medal. The celebrations were organised in cooperation with the Heroic Children of Łódź Primary School No. 81.
The Sixth Reunion of Survivors and their Families was held under the Honorary Patronage of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage, the Office for War Veterans and Victims of Oppression, the Governor of Łódź, the Marshal of the Łódź Province and the Mayor of the City of Łódź. The event was held under the media patronage of TVP3 Łódź and Radio Łódź.
Special thanks for their support of the event are also extended to our partners: BNP Paribas Bank Polska S.A., KMM "OKNO" Perz-Babicki Sp. j., Miś Confectionery, and Katusza Stanisław Butchery and Meat Processing Plant.
We would like to thank all the participants, partners and guests for their presence and for jointly building the memory of the history of the youngest victims of World War II.
