Competitions
On September 10, 2023, we celebrated the National Day of the Polish Children of War for the first time. This is a tribute to the youngest citizens of the Polish state overwhelmed by the criminal activities of the German and Soviet occupiers. The Museum of Polish Children – Victims of Totalitarianism, retaining the memory and spreading knowledge of the fate of Polish children during World War II, encourages primary school students to participate in the competition enabling them to develop historical interests and perpetuate the values that were important to many generations of Poles and are still essential to the formation of the nation's identity, such as historical memory, community and responsibility.
December 1, 2023, marks the 81st anniversary of the establishment of the German concentration camp for Polish children in Lodz on Przemyslowa Street. The first transport of minor prisoners, who were deprived of their childhood and sentenced to hard work beyond their strength, arrived at the camp on December 11, 1942. Twenty-five months of hunger, suffering, longing and trying to hold on to the hope of returning to their homes and loved ones, ended on January 18, 1945.
Last December, we announced an art contest for students in grades four to eight of Łódź schools to create a New Year card with good wishes for the living former prisoners of the concentration camp on Przemysłowa Street.
Due to the high level of interest and in response to numerous requests from teachers and principals, we are extending the deadline for submitting competition works until the end of January 2022.
