back...Save from oblivion – traces of the history of the camp on Przemysłowa Street in Łódź
The Museum of Polish Children – Victims of Totalitarianism is looking for artefacts related to the history of Polish children during World War II. The finds will go to the Collections Department of the Museum, where they can be duly protected and kept in suitable conditions.
“Save from oblivion – traces of the history of the camp on Przemysłowa Street in Łódź” is the name of a new campaign addressed to everyone who might keep in their homes things connected with the camp on Przemysłowa Street and the fate of Polish children during World War II.
- Perhaps in your home – in the basement or in the attic, you still have things that are in some way connected to the history of Polish children during World War II? The Museum would like to invite you to join our campaign and help expand our collection – explains dr Ireneusz Piotr Maj, the head of the Museum.
One of the inspirations for the new campaign was the donation of a sewing machine that was very likely used by the small prisoners of the camp on Przemysłowa Street as a working tool in the saddler’s workshop.
-Recently, we have been offered a sewing machine to add to our collection, which was very likely used in the saddler’s workshop located in the Camp on Przemysłowa Street. The inside of the workshop was depicted on a photograph made during the functioning of the Polen-Jugendverwahrlager Litzmannstadt camp, showing the camp commandant, Camillo Ehrlich, as he led a tour of the camp for the group of visiting SS officers – explains dr Andrzej Janicki, head of the Collections Department.
Everyone who would like to donate things related to the history of children from the times of World War II and the camp on Przemysłowa Street to the Museum of Polish Children – Victims of Totalitarianism is asked to contact the Head of the Collections Department.
