On May 11, 2026, the Museum held a meeting around the book “Dzieci z zielonego autobusu.Z zeznań o niemieckim obozie dla polskich dzieci przy ul.Przemysłowej w Łodzi (1942–1945)” (“Children of the Green Bus. From the Testimonies about the German Camp for Polish Children on Przemysłowa Street in Łódź (1942-1945)”) with the participation of its author, Artur Ossowski. The event was organized as part of the series “The Whole Shelf. A Reading Room on War and Children”.

The discussion was focused on the history of the German camp for Polish children on Przemyslowa Street in Łódź, seen from the perspective of source-based research and post-war reckoning. Participants at the meeting had the opportunity to hear reflections on the criminal responsibility of those involved in the operation of the camp, as well as ways to account for the crimes after the end of World War II.

The discussion also addressed the operation of the judiciary in the period of the Polish People’s Republic (PRL). It was debated to what degree the post-war proceedings represented real efforts to administer justice, and to what degree they served political interests. The role of witnesses – former camp inmates – and those involved in the trials: judges, prosecutors and defence attorneys – was also an important part of the discussion.

The meeting became not only an opportunity to talk about the history of the Łódź camp, but also a starting point for broader reflection on the memory of the victims.

The event was hosted by Andrzej Grzegorczyk.
