The book “We Learned to Cry Without Tears...” is devoted to the history of the German concentration camp for Polish children in Przemysłowa Street, which is presented in the context of the biographies of its former prisoners. The memories and letters written by the children to their families show the horrifying reality of the camp, their attempts to survive, and the immensity of the suffering experienced by the little inmates. The book also presents the post-war lives of the Survivors of the children’s camp in Przemysłowa Street.
The main narrative axis is the story of the children’s tragedy, told from the perspective of several dozen people – based on letters and memories of little prisoners from different regions of occupied Poland: those who managed to survive, but also those whose lives ended in the camp in Przemysłowa Street. The publication – the first in the Museum’s history – also presents profiles of the perpetrators, including those against whom criminal proceedings or trials were conducted in post-war Poland.
