back...“Scouts’ Circle of Remembrance of the Warsaw Uprising"
"Heart in a Backpack," “Children of Warsaw" and "March of Mokotów" were just some of the patriotic songs heard during the concert titled “Scouts’ Circle of Remembrance of the Warsaw Uprising”. The event was dedicated to the memory of Basia Nazdrowicz, a liaison officer in the Warsaw Uprising and a scout of the 6th Warsaw Girl Scout Troop. The concert will be held on September 19 at 6 pm in the auditorium of the Academy of Film, Art and Design at 65 Targowa Street in Lodz.
September 19, 2023 marked the 79th anniversary of the death of Barbara Marta Nazdrowiczówna, a 15-year-old liaison officer in the Warsaw Uprising and a scout of the 6th Warsaw Girl Scout Troop. In remembrance, the 59th Lodz Girl Scout Troop "Family" named after Barbara Marta Nazdrowiczówna and the Academy of Film, Art and Design in Lodz organized a concert dedicated to Basia, entitled “Scouts’ Circle of Remembrance of the Warsaw Uprising".
- I was born two years after Basia's death, but although we did not have a chance to get to know each other, I grew up in her shadow. In a way I was even jealous of her, because Basia was considered a "saint" at home - the one who gave her life for the Homeland. Maybe that's why, at the age of seven, in great conspiracy, I taught my friends the lyrics of the song “The Red Poppies on Monte Cassino". Basia's death and her participation in the uprising had a tremendous impact on my upbringing. To this day, when I tell my sons about the uprising, my voice breaks down," recalls Julitta Nazdrowicz-Woodley, Basia Nazdrowicz's sister.
The concert featured Girl Scouts from the 59th Lodz Girl Scout Troop "Family" named after Barbara Marta Nazdrowiczówna and the Artistic Group “Twierdza Pamięć” (Fortress of Memory).
The Museum of Polish Children – Victims of Totalitarianism – has assumed honorary patronage of the event.
