On December 8, 2022, a postage stamp titled “Niemiecki obóz dla polskich dzieci w Łodzi (1942-1945)” [“Nazi German camp for Polish children in Łódź (1942-1945)”] was placed on the marked. The stamp issue is part of the celebrations organised by the Museum of Polish Children – victims of totalitarianism for the 80th anniversary of the establishment of the Nazi German concentration camp for Polish children at Przemysłowa Street in Łódź.
“Two child figures behind barbed wire, symbolising the drama of imprisonment and suffering in captivity” is the image depicted on a postage stamp titled “Nazi German camp for Polish children in Łódź (1942-1945).” The PLN 3.90 stamp was launched on December 8, 2022. The author of the project is Jan Konarzewski.
‘The stamps were printed using offset technology, on fluorescent paper, in 31.25x43 mm format, in an edition of 144,000 pieces. The sales sheet contains 12 stamps,’ the Polish postal service website reads.
The main goal of the Museum is to bring the story of the execution site for Polish children created by the Germans in an area separated from the Łódź ghetto. The history of the camp which the Museum of Polish Children – victims of totalitarianism – brings to light on a daily basis, is extremely moving, as it tells of the tragic fate of children – defenseless victims of World War II.
In connection with the 80th anniversary of the Nazi German concentration camp for Polish children on Przemysłowa Street in Łódź, the Museum organised a series of events commemorating former camp inmates. The issuance of a collector’s coin and a stamp “Nazi German Camp for Polish Children in Łódź (1942-1945)”, which were issued on December 8 this year, are an important addition to the ongoing anniversary celebration.
