back...4th Reunion of the Survivors of the Przemysłowa Camp
The 4th Reunion of the Survivors of the Przemysłowa Camp was held on 26-27 September.
This year's meeting of former inmates of the German concentration camp for Polish children at Przemysłowa Street in Łódź took place at the Artur Rubinstein Philharmonic Hall and the Łódź Cultural Centre. The event was supported by the National Reconstruction Plan.
During this year's reunion, the Survivors began their stay in Łódź with a visit to the Herbst Palace Museum. The highlight of the first day was a concert performed by students from the S. Moniuszko Music School Complex in Łódź at the Artur Rubinstein Philharmonic Hall in Łódź.
“As every year, we are looking forward immensely to meeting the Survivors of the Przemysłowa camp. This is a great opportunity to spend time together and hear valuable stories about the German concentration camp for Polish children on Przemysłowa Street in Łódź. Whenever we are able to host them here, we do our best to make their stay as pleasant as possible and to give them the care they need. Each meeting with the Survivors is of great importance to us, as unfortunately fewer and fewer of them arrive each year due to their deteriorating health,” said Dr Ireneusz Piotr Maj, Director of the Museum of Polish Children – Victims of Totalitarianism.
The second day of the reunion took place at the Łódź Cultural Centre, where a theatrical performance was staged by children from the Home Army School Complex in Zaczerń. The City of Łódź Children's Choir also performed a short musical repertoire.
The final point of this year's Reunion of the Survivors was a trip to the Memorial to Polish Children – Victims of German Camps in the Area of Łódź and Surrounding Areas at the St. Wojciech Roman Catholic Cemetery in Łódź, where the Director of the Museum of Polish Children – Victims of Totalitarianism together with the Survivors laid flowers and lit a candle.
