The vernissage of the exhibition of the Museum of Polish Children –Victims of Totalitarianism called “Two Wars – One Pain” / Дві війни – одне страждання took place on thesquare in front of the Auditorium Maximum of the University of Warsaw. The exhibition is a universal story about the experience of children affected by the dramatic war experiences.
"The stories reflected in the letters addressed to loved ones clearly show us the suffering experienced 80 years ago by Polish children from the German camp on Przemyslowa Street, while reminding us of the tragedy of Ukrainian children unfolding before our eyes. The letters of the youngest victims of the war reflect their pain, fear and longing. Their small daily needs, as well as their dreams, including the most important one, which was to end the war nightmare and return to their family homes,”said Dr. Ireneusz Piotr Maj, director of the Museum.
In addition to four introductory boards, the exhibition consists of twenty bilingual boards telling the stories of specific children. Ten boards are about little inmates of the German concentration camp for Polish children, whereas another ten boards tell the stories of Ukrainian children forced to flee their family homes as a result of the ongoing Russian invasion.
The exhibition will be available within the area of the University of Warsaw until December 20, 2023.
The project was co-financed with the funds from the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage.
